Our Story, His glory
“There’s this little hero, who was going through a bit of a tough time at school and was struggling with loud noises everywhere he went, told he was naughty and hyperactive. Every parent wonders if their perfect little miracle needs a little help and how on earth are they going to raise this perfect gift that they have been given. A friend suggested that he go see an OT, so him and his parents set off in search of answers.
After 3 hours of intense play therapy, swinging on bars and building fortresses, the OT told them that this little hero is of above average intelligence and struggles to process sensory input. He would need to go to a school tailored to deal with both his intelligence, one that would let him fly and not try to keep him chained to the ground, as well as one that was equipped to help him with his sensory processing issues, but that these schools do not come cheap.
Desperate to help her little hero grow, his mom, Bronwen, knew she had to do something, all she could think about was how on earth were they going to afford the help that their little hero needed, after hours and hours of praying, inspiration struck! “Make fudge and trust Me” was all that was running through her mind.
Finally it made sense, as a little girl she always made fudge and spent her life tweaking her method and recipe, throughout life everyone always loved it and told her it was the best fudge they had ever tasted, melt-in-your-mouth smooth, creamy and soft. That was the answer, FUDGE!
But there was one problem, all they had was R100, meant to buy food for the next week. His mom and dad had to make a choice, food or ingredients for just 1 batch. Needless to say that with a large amount of prayer and a huge leap of faith The Gourmet Fudgery was born.”

That was 3 years ago, and we’re still walking in faith but The Gourmet Fudgery has gone from 1 batch made with love at home, to a beautiful shop with a dedicated kitchen where each batch is still made with love. It’s no longer just a fudge shop, it’s a place that has grown into a safe space when you need a time out from life, where someone will sit with you, make you a cuppa and just listen and pray with and for you. A family business, where it's not just us that's family, it's our customers too.
It started as a way to pay for our little hero’s school but has become so much more and we can’t wait to see what God’s plan is.
